🇺🇸 Big reassurance from Mumbai! US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, wrapping up his two-day India visit, said America's stricter visa and immigration rules are "not aimed at Indian professionals, students or technology companies."
"We're trying to fix 20 years of neglect of an immigration system that wasn't being enforced, and that's not targeted at India," Rubio said — insisting the reforms apply universally, not country-by-country.
On trade, Rubio said the long-awaited India–US deal is 99% done and could land in "weeks, not months." He also clarified that US tariff waivers for Russian-oil buyers are "not designed to punish or harm India."
This is his second India trip this year — after a May visit to New Delhi.
