FRISCO, TX — Downtown Frisco will glow this month as the city's annual Diwali celebration returns to the Square, with organizers expecting thousands of attendees for an evening of fireworks, food, and live entertainment.

The Festival of Lights has grown into one of the largest public Diwali events in North Texas. This year's program includes a fireworks finale, dozens of food stalls serving Indian street food and sweets, live music and dance performances, a bazaar with clothing and jewelry vendors, and a dedicated kids' zone with activities and rides.

City officials say the event reflects Frisco's rapidly diversifying population. What began as a modest community gathering now draws families from across the metroplex — South Asian and otherwise — and has become a fixture on the city's fall events calendar.

Organizers recommend arriving early: parking downtown fills up fast, and the fireworks show caps the night. Many families make an evening of it, shopping the bazaar and eating their way through the food stalls before the main stage performances.

For Telugu families, it is also a convenient way to celebrate close to home. "We used to drive far for a big Diwali event," said one Frisco resident. "Now the biggest one is in our own backyard."
